Jane Callanan serves as General Counsel for the Connecticut Insurance Department. She holds a Juris Doctor from Quinnipiac University School of Law, class of 1993, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Richmond.

Appointed in January 2023 by Insurance Commissioner Andrew N. Mais, Ms. Callanan brings extensive experience in insurance law and regulation. Her career began in 1995 as a staff attorney at the Connecticut Insurance Department, providing legal counsel in financial regulation and consumer affairs. She later joined The Hartford, initially serving as a business attorney and eventually overseeing $3 billion in claims managed by third-party administrators. Prior to her current role, Callanan was special insurance counsel at Willkie Farr & Gallagher, representing Insurtech companies and other insurance licenses.
